Simple Sausage Rolls

Woooaaaahhhhhhhh…. So, as most of you might have noticed, Its been a while since I’ve post anything on here! I don’t have much of an excuse other than life got in the way and I find it hard to find time to post my recipes anymore or take amazing photos ect ect.

But I posted myself making these on my IG story and soooo many people asked for the recipe.

Addi has no problem eating veggies.. its meat that I struggle getting him to eat. We don’t eat meat too often in our house but every now and then I like Addi to have some red meat. So I figured if I wrap them up in carbs (typical boy/ my son) then he will eat about anything inside it. I just quickly chucked this together and they turned out amazing and disappeared in 2 days :/ This is such a great way to get a load of veggies into your families diet and hiding it so they won’t know.. mwahaha. And I guarantee they will love them!

So here you go my lovelies..

Ingredients:

500g organic beef mince

3 sheets of butter puff pastry (I use butter pastry because it has no preservatives in it)

1 small carrot, grated

1/2 zucchini, grated

1/4 large sweet potato or pumpkin, grated

1/2 raw beetroot, grated (optional, But we loved it)

1/2 red onion, chopped finely or grated

1/2 cup of oats

2 eggs

1 tbsp of any kind of milk (I used rice milk)

1 & 1/2 tsp smoked paprika

2 tbsp tamari

1 tsp majoram or oregano

1 tbsp oyster sauce (didn’t have worchester sauce but this worked out well?)

Pinch of salt and pepper

(Add in any herbs you want to use)

The things you do to make the thing:

I just chucked all the veggies in my food processor to grate it all but you can do it by hand as well. Preheat the oven to 200 degrees. Mix together one egg and the milk for the egg wash and set aside.

Mix all the other ingredients together with your hands.

Make sure to get your pastry sheets out of the freezer only a few mins before you use them because they will go too soft if let out too long. When you get it out, with a sharp knife, cut it in half length ways.

Grab some of the meat mixture and shape it into a slim log shape and place it in the middle of one half of the pastry sheet. On one side of the mixture, Brush some egg wash down the whole side. With the other side, wrap it over the mixture and then wrap the other side over so its all wrapped up. Wrap wrap wrap.. I said that too many times.

Then brush the egg wash all over it, sprinkle some sesame seeds on it and cut it into 5 little pieces or however you want.

Repeat till all the mixture and pastry is gone 🙂

Pop it in the oven for about 20ish minutes or until goldennnnnnn brown.
