After a workout, we all know that it’s best to eat some sort of protein so our muscles can recover and grow. But if you’re like me and don’t like the standard watery protein shakes and want to get some added extra nutrition in, then protein balls are for you! They’re super versatile and easy to make. With my version I’ve filled them with good fats like nuts, peanut butter and coconut oil. A few of these after a workout or just as a snack are great, and totally delicious!
Just restrain from eating them all at once.. I may have had a few too many after this photo was taken, oops.

1/2 Cup activated almonds
1/4 Cup activated pepitas
1/4 Cup activated macadamias
2 Tsp goji berries
8 soft dates (if not soft, soak for 15 mins)
1 Tbs soft coconut oil
1 Tsp chia seeds
1/2 Tsp cinnamon
3 Tbs PB2 mixed w/ water or Natural peanut butter
2 Tbs raw cacao powder
3 Tbs choc protein powder of choice (I use Nutra Organics Thriving Protein in the choc coconut flavour.)
Blend all the ingredients together in a food processor till a sticky mixture forms. Roll into balls and coat with desiccated coconut. Put in the freezer for an hour or to to set and then either jar them or keep in the freezer.
* I recommend using activated nuts as their easier for our bodies to digest but regular raw nuts will do fine.
*If you just want a yummy snack ball, leave out the protein powder and substitute with 1 Tbs of raw carob powder.
